Sciatica

Sciatica describes the symptoms of any condition caused by irritation or compression in nerve roots based in the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve runs from the lower back (lumbar spine) through the length of the lower limbs, with branches deviating from it. When there is any trauma to a nerve or nerve root this can cause pain, weakness, or numbness. The pain can radiate from the lower back (lumbar spine) where the sciatic nerve is located, and through the lower limbs.
